The root meaning of the name Ethyka is shining soul. The stem ‘Eth’ originates from the Greek ‘ether’ which means to shine. The Y symbolises a fork in the path and the word ‘ka’ is an ancient Egyptian word for the soul. Throughout our journey in life we may come to a fork in the road, where our spirit or soul requires us to bring in changes.
Sometimes the level of chaos that we face may require that we just surrender to what is happening. This may mean going in or drawing from the deepest parts of our Self in order to navigate the new landscape that we find ourselves in. Even though we are forced to change to meet our challenges, it can be at this exact point that something new and extraordinary forms… something we had no idea that we had within us.
This is the hero’s journey that Joseph Campbell speaks of. Whilst this phrase speaks to us of adventure, when we are suffering or in pain it is difficult or sometimes impossible to find any consolation. How do you bear the pain?
The first step is to let yourself truly feel it, rather than distract yourself from it. By giving up to the pain of what is, only then can you begin to understand that you can survive it. By pushing it away it will keep a vigil at the boundaries of your consciousness.
